Spreading Awareness: National Fentanyl Awareness Day
The rise of illicit fentanyl in communities across the U.S. is an urgent issue that demands attention. Now in its fourth year, National Fentanyl Awareness Day serves as a vital platform to educate people about the dangers of this lethal drug. This annual initiative brings together businesses, nonprofits, schools, and government organizations to take meaningful action against fentanyl-related harm.
At Wilson’s Wave, we are dedicated to safeguarding our community, which is why we proudly support National Fentanyl Awareness Day on April 29, 2025. By collaborating with hundreds of organizations nationwide, we strive to raise awareness, foster important conversations, and ultimately save lives.
The Threat of Illicit Fentanyl
One of the most dangerous aspects of fentanyl is its presence in counterfeit prescription pills, often sold on social media and other digital platforms. Alarmingly, nearly half of teenagers are unaware that these fake pills can contain deadly doses of fentanyl. As more young people turn to self-medication for stress relief, this knowledge gap can lead to tragic consequences.
Although some progress has been made in reducing overdose deaths, fentanyl remains a severe threat, particularly among adolescents and young adults. Spreading awareness and educating those around us can play a crucial role in preventing loss of life.

Wilson’s Story
At Wilson’s Wave, everything we do is driven by Wilson’s memory and legacy.
Horace Wilson Moore, IV—lovingly known as Wilson—was a bright, social, and adventurous young man who loved the outdoors, tinkering with projects, and spending time with his friends and family.
Tragically, Wilson passed away from fentanyl poisoning. He took what he likely thought was a Percocet, unaware of the deadly substance it contained. A close friend with him that night also lost their life.
His passing shattered his family, friends, and community, but his mother, Betsy, turned her grief into action. She reflected on how a single pebble dropped into water creates ripples that spread far beyond where it lands. Life works the same way—one action, one word, one choice can send waves throughout the world.
Betsy wanted the overwhelming wave of sorrow caused by Wilson’s passing to create positive change. Now, she speaks out about the dangers of fentanyl, keeping Wilson’s memory alive and working to prevent others from experiencing the same heartbreak.
Stand with Us to Make an Impact
