Wilson’s Wave Launches Nonprofit to Combat the Fentanyl Crisis
October 24, 2024 – Wilson’s Wave, a new nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl, is proud to announce the launch of the organization, along with its website.
Betsy Moore, a Wake County educator, founded Wilson’s Wave in memory of her beloved son, Wilson Moore, who tragically lost his life to an accidental fentanyl overdose in 2024. Wilson’s Wave is committed to educating communities and preventing future tragedies.
Wilson Moore, a vibrant, adventurous 18-year-old, was known for his kindness, love of the outdoors, and deep connection with his friends and family. Wilson’s life was cut short when he took what he likely believed was a Percocet pain reliever. Wilson died from a suspected fentanyl overdose. His passing on February 15 of this year, along with the loss of a friend under the same circumstances, has had a devastating ripple effect across the community.
"Wilson was more than this tragedy," says Betsy Moore, Founder of Wilson’s Wave. "He was a fierce friend, a bright spirit, and a compassionate soul. I want his memory to be a force for positive change and to help others avoid the heartbreak our family has endured."
The mission of Wilson’s Wave is to educate the public about the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills, offer resources to help prevent overdose, and inspire communities to take action. Betsy Moore shares Wilson's story through speaking engagements, educational programs, and community outreach and provides vital information to prevent others from suffering a similar fate.
